Respite care

A proper break for family carers in Cork

Looking after a loved one is a labour of love, and it is also demanding. Respite care gives you time to rest, work, travel or simply catch your breath, knowing someone reliable is with your relative.

Respite can be a few hours a week, a regular day, or a longer stretch while you are away. We plan it with you, so your relative gets to know the carer first.

  • Regular breaks of a few hours
  • Cover for weekends or holidays
  • Short-term live-in support
  • Companionship so your relative has a friendly face

Home support questions

How long are home support visits?

Visits range from a short check-in to several hours, depending on your plan. We agree the times and tasks with you, and visits are never rushed.

Will I see the same carer each time?

We aim for continuity, with a small team of carers who know you, and we introduce any new carer before they visit.

Can you help after a hospital stay?

Yes. We can arrange support for a hospital discharge, including help to settle in, meals, personal care and company while you recover.
